I am an x-ray technician and self-taught artist born and raised in Atlanta, GA. Creativity started early in my childhood. I remember drawing and cutting out paper dolls and I was fascinated by animation. As I learned to read, I began writing and illustrating my own short stories in composition books (they are quite an amusing read now). As a teenager, I taught myself to play guitar and wrote several songs. Also, influenced by Japanese animation, I began writing and illustrating my own comic books. It was at that time that I began taking art classes and I was steered in the direction of realism and portraiture. I always wanted to learn how to paint, but didn’t have resources then.
However, after high school I began focusing on other goals and on what to do with my life and art went by the wayside. Tired from schooling and exhausted from work, I stopped practicing and creating art…for a while. Now a little later in my early years (if that makes sense), my passion for art has returned and my resources have expanded. I quickly bought some books, did my research, and bought myself paints. I have discovered a whole new side of creating through brushes and pigments.
I primarily work in acrylics on canvas, but will occasionally delve into watercolor and charcoal/pencil. Most of my art features the female form. My early influences of fantasy and anime are still with me and I hope to portray my experiences, ideas and dreams on canvas. I did not attend school for art so I am constantly feeling my way and learning, but I feel that it makes this art journey all the more interesting and fulfilling.
